Welcome to Sensory Speaking, a pediatric therapy private practice founded by two experienced Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) with over 10 years of dedication to helping individuals with disabilities develop essential communication skills. We specialize in early intervention, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), complex communication disorders, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and dyslexia/reading difficulties and more! Our expertise allows us to provide comprehensive and individualized therapy tailored to each client’s unique needs.

Meet Marlee Potter, MS CCC-SLP – Co-Founder and Co-Owner With 8 years of experience in providing educational and rehabilitative services to both children and adults, Marlee Potter is passionate about creating transformative experiences for individuals with a wide range of needs. Before becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), Marlee served as a behavior technician and special education teacher, gaining a comprehensive understanding of how to approach complex developmental challenges. Her professional focus is on the development of functional communication systems, particularly for individuals with significant behaviors through the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Marlee has a strong interest in early intervention and diagnostics, and she works relentlessly to empower individuals by improving their ability to communicate and thrive in their environments. When she’s not making an impact through her work, Marlee enjoys spending quality time with her husband, mini dachshund and baby boy.

Meet Ashley Tato, MS CCC-SLP – Co-Founder and Co-Owner Ashley Tato is a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with experience working in both private and public school settings. Prior to becoming an SLP, Ashley was a Teacher of the Deaf, giving her a unique and valuable perspective on language development and communication strategies with over 10 years of professional experience. As a co-founder and co-owner of Sensory Speaking, Ashley is deeply committed to helping individuals unlock their communication potential. Ashley specializes in targeting language, articulation, and working with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems, tailoring her approach to meet each individual’s needs. She is passionate about incorporating a sensory integrative therapy approach, focusing on the whole child to create lasting change. Ashley also thrives on empowering parents through a coaching model, equipping them with the tools to support their child’s progress at home and in their community. Outside of her professional role, Ashley is a proud military spouse and the loving mother of a fierce little girl, balancing the challenges of family life with her dedication to making a difference in the lives of others.

Do the therapists at Sensory Speaking have any areas of specialty?

Yes! At Sensory Speaking, our therapists have extensive experience supporting children who are neurodivergent, including those on the Autism Spectrum. We specialize in using a wide range of AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) technologies to help each child communicate in the way that works best for them. Our team is committed to neurodiversity-affirming practices—we recognize and celebrate the unique ways each child experiences and interacts with the world. We also incorporate sensory integrative approaches to help meet each child’s individual needs in a supportive and empowering environment. While these are key areas of specialty, our therapists are highly trained and confident in addressing all aspects of pediatric speech and language development. We’re here to partner with families and help every child thrive in their own way.

What ages does Sensory Speaking serve?

We serve children and teens from 18 months to 18 years of age. In certain cases, we may accept clients who are younger or older. Please reach out to discuss your specific needs—we’re happy to help!

Where do Sensory Speaking therapists provide treatment?

Our therapists provide services in a variety of settings, including homes, schools, and community environments. We aim to meet your child where they thrive best.

Do you accept insurance?

We accept Tricare, private payment, and the Florida Family Empowerment Unique Abilities Scholarship. Upon request, we can also provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.

What is your cancellation policy?

Consistent attendance is key to making meaningful progress in therapy. If you need to cancel a session, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice are considered “late cancellations” and will be subject to a cancellation fee of 50% of the session cost.

Do you offer Telehealth services?

Yes! We offer Telehealth services as a convenient and flexible option for families.
